Electrical outlet protective cover?

Q) I have a couch right behind an electrical outlet so I can't use that outlet. I've tried pushing the couch forward, but it still gets unplugged all the time. Is there some kind of cover I can buy so that I can plug things in and keep it protected from being unplugged? Haha, good idea nwlfr. Maybe I will. Also, I tried the "ghetto" way and got a cake of blank CDs, took the top off, cut it so it's about 3 inches high, and cut a small hole for the wires to go through, then duct taped it to the wall..no go. It came off in a day.

A) There are outlet covers for child safety that will take care of this. You can get them at Babies R'Us stores or website. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2792248 This one I linked is only $2.29.

Are Symphony flutes a good brand or are they just an off brand?¿?

Q) i am thinking of buying it off ebay here what it says about it... Ergonomic design for a comfortable feel and ease of play A superior head joint for bigger sound with excellent projection Beveled, undercut embouchure hole for a sensitive response and accurate intonation Precision drawn and rolled tone holes for richly warm tones, balanced harmonics and deep resonance Power forged keys for durability, fast action and outstanding playability Superior pads and cork bumpers for quieter action and a lighter touch Special features include: A split-E mechanism for clearer high E An offset-G for easier reach A low C roller Beautiful gold plated keys, lip and crown accentuate a perfect high luster hand polished silver plated finish Accessories included with this model include plush hard shell carrying case, cleaning rod, protective end caps and plastic hole plugs

A) This is NOT a real flute brand. Do NOT buy this. Unless you are an EXPERT, do not buy flutes off ebay! Instead, see if you can locate a Yamaha, Pearl or Jupiter - used would be great! The above specs are fine - unless you want open holes (although it does not say it has them, it DOES include plugs . . .)and a low B foot. The gold plating on the keys is so thin, it will WIPE off! Most manufacturers do not make nickel-pated flutes anymore, since nickel is too slippery to hole - looks nice, feels awful.

I recently purchased a laptop computer, but the battery won't work correctly.?

Q) When I remove the plug from the wall, it powers off the computer. The help line for the computer is in a foreign country and I cannot understand their English. Can someone help me troubleshoot why the battery will not power my computer? It shows as 80% full, not charging. There is no protective strip to remove from the battery, and I have fiddled with the settings, but cannot figure it out. I already have quite a bit of stuff on it, and don't want to have to return it. Do you think the computer company may send me another battery? Surely it is cheaper for them to replace a battery than to replace an entire computer.

A) See if the warrenty is still active and return it.

Group B Strep, should I be concerned when mucus plug is released?

Q) I just tested positive for group B strep. I'm 37.5 weeks pregnant with my first baby, and I've read up on the bacteria and have learned a lot, but there is still something I'm curious about. I have heard of some women losing their mucus plug days or even up to a week before delivery, and I understand that the mucus plug is a protective barrier for the baby. If I lose my mucus plug, should I go straight to the hospital for antibiotics? Or is the baby okay until I am fully in labour? Please any advice would be helpful

A) That is a good question! The quick answer is that your baby is still safe. The reason is that they give you antibiotics in labor so that your baby will be safe when he/she is born. The baby does not need the antibiotic protection until after he/she passes through your vagina, and since your mucus plug may be lost up to two or even three weeks prior to labor, there is no reason to be concerned at this point. Should I try to fix my T.V. myself, have it repaired, or replace it?

Q) I went to watch TV and when I pressed the "POWER" button, the screen remained black, and the only sound that emitted was that of a static electricity discharge. Then for about three hours it made that same discharge sound every five seconds until it was unplugged. When I plugged it back in, it made a single, continuous, high pitched ringing sound and continues to do so for as long as it is plugged in. The screen still does absolutely nothing and the ringing is the only sound the TV makes. The TV is a large Entertainment Series RCA and will be costly to replace. It was plugged into a surge-protective strip outlet when the problem was discovered, but the problem persists even when plugged directly into a wall outlet. Can I fix it myself? About how much would it cost to have it repaired? Will it be possible to get a refund from the manufacturer considering the fact that I didn't buy a warranty for it and have had it for around five years? Any help or advice is appreciated. Yes, it is digital.

A) Your warranty is long gone. You can take to a repaiman and get an estimate. It could be something minor. But with everything going digital in 2009 make sure that yours in compatible before you put $$$ in it.

Something ate my MP3 Player?

Q) I left my micro ZEN MP3 player over my cousins house. I wasn't able to pick it up for a few days. When I did, I noticed the wire for the headphones was no longer wrapped around the player and the on/off button was missing. As I looked closer, the entire top of of my player was chewed off, including the protective cover. The headphones that plug into the top were untouched, hence she could have been listening to it with her own headphones.. When I told my cousin(we're close-like bro and sis) that her dog must of ate my ZEN she seemed insulted that I mentioned what had happened. She reacted by telling me to go buy another one and she'll replace it. I told her of the cost to replace a MP3 player and she started with an attitude. It's been 2 months now and she hasn't said a word or even apologized. I did buy an replacement. Should I confront her and tell her that I did buy a new one and I'd like the money reinbursed to me? or should I forget it?

A) First of all, how old are you? If you're minors living with your parents, talk with them. Otherwise, she said she'd replace it, so take her at her word. Give her the receipt and see what she says. At the last she should split it with you.

need help making piezo acoustic pickup?

Q) making a piezo accustic pickup, need name of the female jack for guitar cord? i found a site that i can buy the piezo http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-b... id like to get female jacks, maybe with a protective shell, so i can just plug in a standard 1/4 patch cord to amp. money is an issue! i came across a company called switchcraft, but cant seem to find the right piece. ======}}}}}uuuu|>...... O}}}}}}>=========PIEZO patchcord ^ ...................^need this piece. .....^i found the piezos hope you all understand what i mean if you think id be better of ending with males, let me know.. i plan on attacting to my ukulele and bango(well banjulele) and a accustic guitar.

A) I tried your link, but could not get it to work. Sounds like you've put a lot of effort into this project. So if I get the gist of your project, you want a FEMALE 1/4" jack at the end of your pickup, so you can run a standard M-to-M 1/4" guitar cable from the piezo to the amp, right? Have you gone to Radio Shack and shown them what you're working on? Maybe you have an electronics shop in your area that could help? Typically, the people in those places will be able to help you, at a low cost. BTW - the link below is for people who want to build their own pickup, like yours.

Is there a handheld computing device that meets these criteria?

Q) I need a handheld computing device running OpenOffice Calc (v. much preferred) -- or MS Excel, if Calc isn't an option -- or some "equivalent" spreadheet software. I prefer at least 320 x 480 pixels for the display, but can get by with something smaller. It can have a QWERTY kybd that flips open to reveal the display (and, when closed, doubles as a protective cover), or the kybd can be digital (on the display), or the kybd can be on the front of the device. Full recovery -- meaning display of the last open spreadsheet page & complete functionality of the spreadsheet s/ware -- from "sleep" mode needs to be well under 3 seconds. Battery life needs to be <= 10 hours of normal spreadsheet use between recharges, and I don't want a battery that develops "memory:" taking advantage of my battery's full potential shouldn't mean I have to fully deplete my battery before recharging it. I don't need wireless anything (gotta plug-in to recharge anyway), but a (USB/E-net) dock would be nice. Regarding battery life: Normal spreadsheet use for me means turning the device on, entering a series of numbers (never more than 84 cells, and likely not more than 16 even on a bad day). After that, it could be a few minutes or a few hours before I'll need to access and/or update the information -- but when I need it, I will need it "right now." I suppose I could augment the whole process with a pad and pen, but wouldn't that defeat the point of having a handheld? I mean, if all I end up with is a calculator anyway, what's the point? My spread sheets are extremely simple: all I'll be doing at first is entering production values, summing them and subtracting from a weekly target value to determine shortfall. If I'm using Excel, "conditional formatting" can help me prioritize production at a glance (I haven't yet figured out how to do this with Calc). So I don't need MP3 or video playback and all the other multimedia stuff: I just need a workhorse.

A) It looks like you are searching for my PDA It is Siemens SX66 with Windows Mobile 2003 Phone Edition Butm thanks to some PDA sites, I have now Windows Mobile 5 VBAXLMan

Why am I losing hearing?

Q) I'm 19 years old and I have been losing my hearing. I'm extremely over protective of my hearing. I'm a musician and in school to hopefully become a producer, so my ears are my tools to my work. I'm also in band and rehearse regularly and play gigs on the average 3-4 times a month is local venues and dive bars. We are a loud band, but I ALWAYS wear ear plugs when I rehearse, play shows, or watch shows. I rarely get the high pitched ringing associated with hearing loss when I rehearse/play. My ear plugs reduce up to 33 dBs and I estimate that we play at around 90-100 dBs. But, at random times, I will get that high pitched ringing in my ears. I know and understand that overtime we all lose hearing as a natural process, but I would like to preserve mine as much as possible. So.... 1) Why am I losing my hearing at times when there is nothing loud around me? 2) Am I still at an age where my body will naturally repair/regain some of the hearing that I have lost? Thanks, Jon

A) that's sad, I know how u feel. sorry I don't know anything about that, but I know that don't stress, bc went u stress, your body uable to fight against the systom. Go see the doctor, hope u get better.

Toyota 4Runner Plug Wire Problem?

Q) I have a 1992 Toyota 4runner v6 3.2L, the spark plug wires keep arking, i've changed them about a dozen times and made sure there not contacting anything thats getting hot. The vehicle will run fine for about 100 miles after changing the plug wires and then it starts to idle rough and die when sitting at stop sign's. (plug wires are now starting to ark again) i have also replaced the distributor cap and rotor and added protective silicone to the boots. The Check Engine light is not coming on, temp gauge isnt saying its hot (seems to be working though) but the radiator is usually boiling after a long drive.
